Volubilis, Morocco

Volubilis is an ancient Berber-Roman city located in northern Morocco near Meknes. Designated a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1997, it is considered one of the best-preserved and most extensive Roman ruins in North Africa.

Founded in the 3rd century BC, it grew into the capital of Roman Mauretania Tingitana, thriving on olive oil and grain trade. It later served as the base for Moulay Idriss I, who introduced Islam to Morocco. It features prominent Roman structures, including the Triumphal Arch of Caracalla, the Capitolium Temple, and a grand Basilica. Volubilis is renowned for intricate Roman floor mosaics preserved directly in situ across its ancient villa ruins.

Volubilis là một thành phố cổ đại mang đậm dấu ấn Berber - La Mã, nằm ở phía bắc Morocco, gần thành phố Meknes. Được công nhận là Di sản Thế giới UNESCO vào năm 1997, nơi đây được xem là một trong những khu di tích La Mã quy mô và được bảo tồn tốt nhất tại Bắc Phi.
